According to the National Employment Law Project minimum wages will increase in 19 states and 21 cities on or around New Year’s Day, for a total of 40 jurisdictions (Table 1).
Here is the full list of state-level minimum wage increases on 01/01/2019:
- Alaska, the minimum wage increases from $9.84 to $9.89.
- Arizona, the minimum wage increases from $10.50 to $11.00.
- Arkansas, the minimum wage increases from $8.50 to $9.25.
- California, the minimum wage increases from $10.50 to $11.00 (small employers), and $11.00 to $12.00 (large employers).
- Delaware, the minimum wage increases from $8.25 to $8.75 (January) and $9.25 (October).
- Colorado, the minimum wage increases from $10.20 to $11.10.
- Connecticut, the minimum wage increases from $9.60 to $10.10.
- Florida, the minimum wage increases from $8.25 to $8.46.
- Maine, the minimum wage increases from $10.00 to $11.00.
- Massachusetts, the minimum wage increases from $11.00 to $12.00.
- Minnesota, the minimum wage increases from $7.87 to $8.04 (small employers), and $9.65 to $9.86 (large employers).
- Missouri, the minimum wage increases from $7.85 to $8.60.
- Montana, the minimum wage increases from $8.30 to $8.50.
- New Jersey, the minimum wage increases from $8.60 to $8.85.
- New York, the minimum wage increases from $7.50-$11.05 to $7.50 – $12.50 (varies by firm size, region, industry & amount of earned tips).
- Ohio, the minimum wage increases from $8.30 to $8.55.
- Rhode Island, the minimum wage increases from $10.10 to $10.50.
- South Dakota, the minimum wage increases from $8.85 to $9.10.
- Vermont, the minimum wage increases from $10.50 to $10.78.
- Washington State, the minimum wage increases from $11.50 to $12.00.
