The Work Opportunity Tax Credit known as #WOTC is a federal tax credit available to employers who hire individuals from disadvantaged groups of workers. Including WOTC Screening with iRecruit can save an employer significant amounts of money.
WOTC Screening is used to determine if a new hire is a member of one of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit’s ten target groups that would make the employer eligible to receive a tax credit for hiring the individual.
The employer includes the WOTC screening form(s) (IRS Form 8850 Pre-Screening Notice and Certification Request for the Work Opportunity Credit, and the Department Of Labor ETA Form 9061 Individual Characteristics Form (ICF) Work Opportunity Tax Credit ) as part of the new hire paperwork – all of which can be done online in a paperless environment.
The new hire completes this paperwork, in person or online, and the employer submits the completed documents to the State Workforce Agency. With a screening vendor, like CMS, they submit the forms for you.
Tracking and Certification
Once you receive a certificate for a qualified candidate you’ll track the hours worked and wages received. Shown Above is your CMS WOTC dashboard – linked to your iRecruit account – that you can use to track submissions, compliance, and the value of your tax credits.
WOTC Benchmarks
Employee must work a minimum of 120 Hours for you to receive a 25% tax credit of their first $6,000 in qualified wages.
400 Hours for the maximum 40% tax credit.
